Donald Trump postpones G7 summit, and want India to Join.

US president Donald Trump has postponed the Group of Seven summit he may also expand the list of countries invited to attend the rescheduled event to add Australia, Russia, South Korea and India and wished to hold in June.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One during his return to Washington from Cape Canaveral in Florida,” Trump said that the G7 in its existing arrangement was a “very elderly group of countries”. I am postponing it since I don’t feel that as a G7 it correctly represents what’s happening in the world,” Trump said.

He said he had not yet set a fresh date for the interview, but believed that the gathering could occur in September, around the time of the yearly meeting of the United Nations at New York, or perhaps following the US election in November.

It was unclear whether Trump’s desire to invite the additional countries was an effort to permanently expand the G7. On many previous occasions, he indicated Russia be added given that which he described as the international strategic importance of Moscow.

Russia was expelled out of what was then the G8 in 2014 when Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, was US president, after Moscow annexed the Crimea region from Ukraine. Russia retains the land, and various G7 authorities have rebuffed calls into readmit Moscow.

White House spokeswoman Alyssa Farah mentioned on Saturday the Trump wants the states to talk China in the summit.

Trump has attacked Beijing on its handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which began in China, and also on Friday he ordered his government to start the process of ending special US treatment for Hong Kong in retaliation for China’s determination to enforce a new safety law on the former British colony.

The choice to postpone the G7 summit is an escape for Trump, who’d sought to host the group of major industrialized countries in Washington as a demonstration that the United States was sentenced to normal after the corona virus outbreak, which has killed over 103,000 Americans so far.
