Former India cricketer Chetan Chauhan COVID-19 report found positive

Former India cricketer and Uttar Pradesh cabinet ministry Chetan Chauhan has tested positive for COVID-19.

The development of Chauhan testing positive for the dreaded virus emerged late on Saturday night in the tweets of former India players Aakash Chopra and R P Singh, who wished him a quick recovery.

“Chetan Chauhan ji can be tested positive for #COVIDー19. Sending best wishes in his direction also get well soon, sir,” Chopra tweeted.

Praying for his quick recovery,” R Singh wrote.

The 72-year-old experienced the COVID-19 evaluation on Friday and was reportedly admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi PGI clinic at Lucknow.

Chauhan’s household members will experience COVID-19 evaluations and they have been placed under home quarantine for the time being. Chauhan holds the Sainik Welfare, Home Guards, PRD and Civil Safety ministry at the UP cupboard.

Chauhan, a former Lok Sabha MP, is among the few former international cricketers that have contracted the virus.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and Scotland’s Majid Haq were among the high-profile names to check positive and recover from the infection.

Known for a gritty player, Chauhan played 40 Tests between 1969 and 1978 and scored 2084 runs at an average of both 31.57 together with 97 being his greatest score. He also played seven ODIs, scoring 153 runs from them.

He and Sunil Gavaskar formed an effective opening partnership, scoring over 3000 runs with 10 century stands in a lot of Tests in the 1970s.

He was a significant scorer of runs in domestic championships when playing for Delhi and Maharashtra.
