Write a short note on Woman Director.
Woman Director: Section 149 (1) provides that such class of companies, as may be prescribed, shall have at least one woman director. As per Section 149 (2), every company existing on or before the date of commencement of this Act shall, within one year from such commencement, appoint at least one woman director.
The following class of companies are required to appoint at least one woman director :
- Every company listed on a recognized stock exchange.
- Every other public company whose
(i) Paid -up share capital is Rs 100 crore or more or
(ii) Turnover is Rs 360 crore or more.
Every company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 has to appoint at least one woman director within a period of six months from the date of its registration.
