BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said quarantine period for the Indian team may reduced

India scheduled to play four Test matches in Australia in December-January. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly said that he hopes the quarantine period for the Indian team when they arrive in Australia for their scheduled tour later in the year is reduced.

“We have confirmed that tour. In December we’ll be coming. We just hope the amount of quarantine days become decreased a bit because we don’t need the players to move all that way and sit hotel rooms for two weeks. It is very, very depressing and disappointing,” Ganguly said.

“And, like I said, Australia and New Zealand are in good places except Melbourne. So from that point of view we will be moving there and the quarantine times will be and we could get back to cricket”

Pakistan, who is England’s next opponents in the summer-time, also spent 14 days after coming in the country.

However, the side was still reeling from the aftermath of the 2018 ball tampering scandal and was star batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner. The group has made their comeback since and while Smith scored a mind numbing 774 runs in the 2019 Ashes, Warner came back into form at Test cricket by scoring 335 away 418 balls against Pakistan later in the year.

Ganguly believed that India will be confronting a distinct Australian side but considers that they stand a chance due to how good they’ve been over the past few decades.

“It will be a hard series, It is not going to be exactly what it had been two years back. It is going to be a powerful Australia but our staff is as great,” he explained.

“We’ve got the batting, we have the bowling. We just need to bat. The top teams abroad bat well.

“When we had been successful in England, in Australia, in Pakistan we were becoming 400-500-600 in Test matches. I said that to Virat too.”

Ganguly said that the show will probably be important to Kohli’s tenure as captain of their side compared to the World Cup.
